Score Collaboration

As part of this project, I would be collaborating and outsourcing the score of my Animatic. I would be collaborating with my Brother and Musician, Rhys Hurd.




The initial aims for the score were to have a fast-paced beat, with the most prominent components being guitar and synth to fit with the retro colours I was planning to use. The inspiration for the score came from Henry Jackman's work on Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Most notably the track "the Lumerion Star"


Cubase was the program that was mostly used for the production of the score, with tests and back and forths happening between me and Rhys.

Conclusion and Critical Evaluation

Were my practices appropriate and relevant to the Industry? As Mentioned previously, all the tools and methods employed, are all used in the current industry. While I didn't necessarily use all the most mainstream tools, and the tools were cross-compatible, so my skill-sets would be to. How could I work differently in the future? I believe that in order to become more efficient in my work in the future, will come in the form of my own knowledge and confidence in the subject matters at hand. I want to take the knowledge that I have taken from this course, and further them in the coming weeks and months so that I am as prepared to enter the industry as possible.  One aspect that I could improve on is my critical analysis and research of my production, specifically when it comes to animation and editing techniques. Week 12

The majority of this week was spent painting and adding backgrounds to around half of the animation sequences, in addition to the shading. This actually took less time than I anticipated. That being said it still took a long time overall. For the backgrounds I used Worcester as inspiration, I went to the city centre and took a bunch of reference photos from which to create under-painting for, I also made sure to make the colour palette of the city far more purple to make the aesthetic that was designed during pre-production. In total I there was 28 different backgrounds painted.  Below are the segments of animation composited with the background.
