Week 9
This weeks animation involved more zoom outs, however, this is a much slower zoom than the previous one, so unlike it, the character can remain in detail, the main purpose of this shot is to show the scale of the charged attack. I also feel that it works as a bridge so the next shot can pan to Robyn.
I feel that over this project I have gained confidence in my camera angles, and I found animating this one easier than the previous ones (albeit still not a walk in the park). As always, I took the initial animatic lines, neatened them up and some were redrawn in their entirety. Some of the times were changed so the camera speeds up and slows down at the beginning and end of the zoom, giving it a more realistic feel.
I felt that the black lines within the "gravity ball" as I have dubbed it, does not really add anything to the piece, and therefore I changed them to green, to blend in with the rest of the ball
More in-betweens
Once the in-betweens were added, as usual, I began to add colour.
The final clip. I was happy with how this turned out in the end, however, I feel that it will benefit from lighting effects and backgrounds. I feel that the camera zoom could have perhaps have been better. I do think this part of the animation shows the limitation of the iteration of CLIP STUDIO ANIMATION I am using. The version that I am using is version 1.7.9. The current version (1.8.8) Has a far greater range of camera tools, that I feel could have benefited my animation majorly. However, this version is only available in Asia currently, and won't live in Europe till May 2nd, which is outside of my animation timeframe.
Next up was the next scene along chronologically. where our hero stops this attack. This scene was referenced from a video, which can be found in the reference page on my blog. That being said, the animation still had to be drawn from hand and like the rest of my animation, No rotoscoping has yet to occur, as the character this is being referenced from is vastly different in design to my Protagonist.
WIP before and after with colour.
